Travel to Koh Phi Phi for 3 Days 2 Nights

Koh Phi Phi Don is the largest island in a group of Koh Phi Phi. It has 28 square kilometers. The width of the island is 3.5 kilometers and the length is 8 kilometers. This island is located in the area of Ton Sai Bay that is an area of the pier and the center of facilities for the tourists.

For this trip, the weird thing is that the winter is covering Thailand, but we choose to go to the south which is Koh Phi Phi. Even now Koh Phi Phi is not the same, but it has more of the facilities and a lot of traveling. When I was a child, I used to see Koh Phi Phi only in a picture or from a TV. I didn’t have any chance to travel. When I grew up as my experience changed, now I had to do work including traveling to each island to make new experiences to share with people who were interested. It’s also the way of running to my dream goal that I want to go there once. The foreigners come to my country, and why myself as a Thai person won’t go there. Looks like I'm talking too much, so let’s go!

I started traveling with a flight from Don Muang-Phuket. As you can see, a flight from 03.30 am to get in a boat on a morning round. It took 1 hour and 25 minutes to arrive at Phuket International Airport.

As with most trips, we traveled with Airasia.

I didn't seem to feel familiar at all. It was my first time with the flight at this time. There were almost no people, and restaurants were closed. If you want to fly at this time, I recommend you to have some snacks beforehand if you’re a continuous eater. We got to the gate easily as it had a lot of spaces.

Time went by real fast, I got in a plane again, but this plane was full of people. When we got on the plane, we had a long sleep. We got up again when we arrived at Phuket.

I got out of the plane and waited for my luggage. It was too early, so I didn’t have to compete with anyone. I got all of them back within 10 minutes. Then we got in a private van that we booked. You can make an appointment with a driver every time.

There is only one exit. You can find it easily. When you get out you’ll find a driver waiting for passengers or sometimes they’ll hold a name sign waiting for us.

The driver arrived at a place. His name is Kob. I didn’t think that he would take a whole van for us. If you come with a group of around 7-10 people, the cost will get cheaper. The driver, Kob, took us to Ratchada Pier.

We sat from the airport for 1 hour to Ratchada pier. For this pier, if you drive your own car and park here, you have to pay a fee of 100 Baht/car/night. There is no roof. The pier is quite wide but does not have that much food for sale such as smoothies, snacks, and instant noodles. Before you get to the pier, I recommend you buy some of them.

The stores in the area of Ratchada pier.

This is a check-in spot for our boat. We went to Koh Phi Phi by a speed boat of the Satun Pakbara Speed Boat Club. The boat departed at 08.30 am. We had to check-in at least 30 minutes before the boat departed. The booth name is Anda. You can check the boat schedule at www.ferryadvice.com (ID:line ferryadvice) for 24 hours.

When we finished check-in, we got a sticker for putting on our shirt. The sticker told us about the island that we will travel to. 

You also have to put on luggage, because the crew will take your luggage to the bow of the boat. Then they will take luggage to the pier so we can separate the bags according to which island we go to.

Before a boat departs in 15 minutes, the staff will tell us to get in a boat. As we got in a speed boat to Koh Phi Phi, we had to walk across a big boat to get in a speedboat. The crew came and helped us carry our baggage.

This is an inside speed boat that we sat on. The tourists were getting in a boat which was a speed boat with 3 machines and 30 seats. We had 3 crew take care of the passengers. It took approximately 1 hour to arrive at Ton Sai Bay. The pier at the beach of Koh Phi Phi Don.

Ton Sai Bay pier, when we arrived here, the resort staff held a sign waiting for us at the pier and helped us carry luggage to the resort. We had to make an appointment with the staff to wait for us at the pier.

The resort staff had a cart to carry our luggage to the resort on Koh Phi Phi Don. We had to walk by only because the island is small. They had no motorcycle or rental bicycle, so we had a chance to walk and view the surroundings of the island.

We walked for a moment and arrived at our resort. This time we were booking at Phi Phi Top View Resort. It is a new resort that opened for service within 2 years. We completed check-in and went to our room. It was really high like we were on a real mountain. When we were booking, we didn’t know that it would be that high.

When we already checked-in, we went straight to the room. We chose the room with the best view and the highest. We were tired from walking to the room. The resort that we stayed has a swimming pool with no time limit.

This is in the room which is a single bed room. It has general facilities such as TV, refrigerator, safe box, and water heater. The room is not that wide. It is good for 2 people staying. If you come in with 3 people staying, you have to upgrade the room type.

The bathroom is not that big. For the room, staying 2 people is warm. You have to interpret it by yourself. I compared it with other resorts that have similar prices.

The view from our room. When we looked out, we could see the area of Ton Sai Bay or the pier on Koh Phi Phi Don. The sea water was a beautiful blue.

We got our things right in a place, let’s get going! The island road was quite clean. At first, I thought that Koh Phi Phi Don would have crowded people, but it turned out that we can easily walk around. It might be because most people would choose a one day trip and sleep in Phuket, but we liked to sleep on the island. It has the feeling of traveling to the real island.

This place had a lot of pizza restaurants. The pizza was 80 Baht each. It was homemade islander style pizza, an alternate choice of delicious taste.

Koh Phi Phi Don has McDonalds as well. It was our light dinner. We ate McDonalds and made an appointment with a long-tailed boat from Ton Sai Bay for tomorrow's one day trip. For people who are staying on Koh Phi Phi Don, if you want to dive on islands of Koh Phi Phi, you can dive in a join trip for 800 Baht/net. Diving at 10.00 am and going back around 06.00 pm. It has drinking, coffee, snacks, and lunch. Now we have to make a choice about what we will choose.

We decided on a private boat. We rented a private long-tailed boat for a dive trip. We can choose the time and pay a rent of 1,500 Baht / 3 hours for 2 people. The advantage is we can choose the time for arrival and departure. If you go to dive in a morning which has a few people, you will get a more private feeling. If you go on a join trip, the boat will depart at 10.00 am, you will see a lot of people from a lot of places meeting on a beach that we will travel to. As we wanted some privacy, we wanted a private corner as well.

We already booked a boat for tomorrow's trip, so we walked around. We passed by and saw the Mango Garden restaurant. It was a restaurant about Mango with Sticky Rice, so we stopped by. Let’s see if it looks tasty enough.

We looked for menus. What should we eat? It had Honey Toast, but we chose Mango with Sticky Rice 1 set instead.

20 minutes passed by, and we got what we ordered. It was delicious, good looking, and the price was not quite expensive. This set was around 180+ Baht.

Please eat it, sir. No need to be considerate. Keep your energy and eat a lot of food for tomorrow’s trip. Let’s say goodbye to this night with Mango with Sticky Rice. We felt sleepy already, so goodnight.

Good morning! After we finished eating breakfast at the resort at 07.30 am, we walked to Ton Sai Beach to prepare for our long-tailed boat for diving. We hurried because they would not look beautiful with a lot of people. The waves were peaceful today and had a little blowing winds sometime. We sat on the boat as we could stay still. If the waves were getting stronger, a boatman would tell us.

Koh Phi Phi Leh (Bird-eyes view) is one of the islands in Noppharat Thara National Park - islands of Koh Phi Phi, Andamun sea. It is located in the area of Krabi province. 

The first bay that we arrived at was Maya Bay. The sea water was very clear, but today it had a light sun. The weather was cool. We looked around and saw only foreigners.

Even if we got out early, there were still a bunch of people. If we came on a join trip… Well, I don’t want to talk about it. I thought in my mind that I was glad to choose a long-tailed boat, since there were not a lot of people. Maya Bay has clear water and fine white sand. Andamun is like a heaven for Thai people.
 

Behind the beach is an area of the national park that is taken care of by Noppharat Thara National Park - islands of Koh Phi Phi. We can walk through the back of the other side. There is also a bay. The national park has stores that sell snacks and drinks. They also have restrooms on the service.
 

We came to the back. It is a ladder to the view point “Loh Samah Bay” that is a famous spot for diving on islands of Koh Phi Phi.

The front sea made our eyes calm and felt comfortable. This sea water zone has an emerald color. It is not the same as the Maya Bay zone which made them beautiful by itself.
 

Look how clear the water sea is on Maya Bay. We finished here and continued to dive in nearby islands. It had a lot of fish, but it didn’t have soft corals like the Koh Lipe zone. We guaranteed that the fish here had more than Koh Lipe.

The boat went roundabout for diving at Loh Samah from the previous picture. It has so many kinds of fish. Some of them look like snakes. They swam fast enough to make us scared, but they turned out to be fish. We couldn’t take a picture because they went too fast. After we finished diving here, Bang took us to Pileh Lagoon and told us to prepare ourselves due to the upcoming strong waves and winds. We understood the assignment and did everything. Whenever you go to the sea, you have to keep yourself safe with a life jacket.

The diving spot here had so many kinds of fish swimming in the sea. 

Loh Samah is a famous diving spot of Phi Phi Leh because it has a lot of fish.

After we got through the waves, we finally saw the beauty of “Pileh”. Pileh is an inner sea. Let me tell you why that is. It’s a small cove in a big sea that was formed by the wall in an undersea cave which was unable to weigh, so they collapsed and became a basin in the middle of an island in the sea. We called it Lagoon. It is surrounded by high cliffs and the water channel connecting the main sea. 

The foreigners had fun jumping and playing in the water. The depth of this spot is around 8 meters. I got this information by asking a boatman. I thought that it was really deep. The water was clear, but this spot had cold water which wasn’t warm like Loh Samah. After we finished playing in the water at Pileh, we sat on the boat throughout Viking Cave. The last spot that we wanted to stop by was the Monkey Bay. They will have monkeys come and play with tourists. 

We arrived at the front beach of Monkey Bay before we went back to Phi Phi Don. The water was clear, warm, and not cold at all.

It is a small front sand beach that has a lot of monkeys, but today didn’t have any monkeys showing themselves to us. Maybe the monkeys might be sleepy due to good weather. We played with water for a while, then went to Phi Phi Don by boat for 20 minutes. The boat took us to the front of Ton Sai Bay as the same as the last. We walked to the resort, took a bath, and walked around for lunch.

After we got tired from diving, we ordered an easy menu on the island called Thai Basil Stir Fry Seafood With Fried Egg. Each dish is 60+ Baht which was not expensive for us. I can’t remember the restaurant name, but I remember that it was an a la carte restaurant located in the opposite of a water reservoir in the middle of the island. I recommended this restaurant for the cheap menu prices. After we finished our lunch, we went to the view point Phi Phi.

After we asked for the way, we continued to walk for just 300 meters. Oh, my knees hurt. Usually, I don’t walk this much. I recommend you bring a cold bottle of water with you to drink while walking. When we arrived there, the officer told us to pay 30 Baht/net fee.

We bought tickets and walked just a moment to arrive at view point one. 

View point one won’t see all islands. We had to continue walking to view point two. This spot had a beautiful decoration like a public park. It had resting seats for seeing the view. The winds blew in a very cold breeze. There were so many spots for taking pictures.

I took a photo for him because he conquered view point one at Phi Phi Don.

Afterwards, we sat and viewed the landscape as we got more energy for walking to the view point two. It was far. I’m not sure about the kilometer distance.

For view point two, the walking way had so many rocks alternating along the way. The top was a wide yard and the winds kept blowing and blowing.

This legendary picture is the conqueror of view point two at Phi Phi Don. This view is the most beautiful view that you can see Phi Phi Don both left and right. 

Phi Phi Don is always beautiful every time when we have a trip on the south sea. There is no way that we won’t fall in love with the south sea. Each island has its own attractiveness, like its own magic, and mysterious.

After we took a lot of photos, we had to go back. On the way back, we saw a cute cat lying down and playing on a rock. The weirdness of Phi Phi Don is there are a lot of cats. Every spot on the islands, the cats stay everywhere. Luckily, the cat didn’t cause any trouble for us.

The way down was not that tired like the way up. This is a picture of the way up. They were concrete and had ladders with frequent steps.

Let’s cool down with stir-fried ice cream for 100 Baht. It’s his favorite.

The stir-fried ice cream in my thought was that they mix everything together. It was tasty, but I felt odd.

This is our talent. Whenever we go to the island, we always inspect the roti prices on every island. This roti with eggs was 50 Baht. This price was acceptable because we had experiences with more expensive prices.

It was delicious for me, so I ate it until I was full. I went to take a bath because I was really hot. In the evening, I will take you to the walking street center of Phi Phi Don.

This is the evening atmosphere at the resort. After we finished taking a bath, let’s find dinner at the market. The food on the island had a lot of restaurants to choose from.

The food on the island was mostly neutral taste for the foreigners. If you are a Thai person, tell them that you want a Thai-like delicious taste. If not, the food you got will have a plain taste.

We finally decided on the restaurant. Order what you want to eat. The menus were mostly seafood. Actually, we wanted to have some pork, but on the island it was really hard to find. We mostly found seafood or cow meat instead.

This is the Steamed Prawns with Vermicelli. The prawns were fresh and big.

This is the Spicy Glass Noodle Salad. The food here mostly started at 150+ Baht, but they really gave you until overflowing from the dish.

This is a Pork Barbecue for 190 Baht each. We saw many restaurants but just found this one. The restaurant is located in the area of Ton Sai Bay. After we finished our dinner, we walked around to digest the food before heading back to the resort.

While we were walking around, we found another attractive restaurant. We wanted to drink iced cocoa. It had a price tag for 90 Baht. Let’s drink at least 1 before going back to sleep.

When we paid for the cocoa, the seller gave us a discount of 30 Baht for Thai people. Thank you! This was a very friendly price. Have a good night, we are going to Lanta tomorrow.

The next morning with breakfast, we prepared ourselves for check-out. This is the dinner room of the resort.

The resort and the dinner room were not in the same zone as they separated far from each other. 

The breakfast was a regular buffet with unlimited refills. This plate was for him. I told him that eating too much was not good for traveling on the sea. If the waves were strong, he would be seasick.

After we finished eating breakfast, we walked and waited for the boat to take us to Koh Lanta at Ton Sai Bay pier. The boat company check-in set that we were traveling had a clearly indicated sign. We traveled by a speed boat on 09.30 am as we waited from 08.45 am.

When we completed check-in, the staff gave us stickers for putting on your shirt and your luggage that told the island we’re traveling to. It was a Lanta sticker with a pink color. The staff told us to meet again at 09.20 am.

Good girl, please smile~ This is a traveler like us, but they were going to Koh Lipe. They sat on the same boat with us, but they had to change boats at Koh Lanta. The speed boat couldn’t run too much distance or the machine would get hot.

The atmosphere in the area of Ton Sai Bay pier. It had long-tailed boats docking in a line waiting to serve the tourists.

The long-tailed boat is a sign of Andamun. I gave the meaning by myself because I saw them on almost all islands as they’re really unique.

We arrived at 09.20 am. Let’s wait for the boat at the meeting spot. We prepared ourselves to get ready for traveling to Koh Lanta. We got out from an island as the tourists came to Koh Phi Phi Don a lot. There are a lot of people who say that Koh Phi Phi has so many people that the island has no privacy and is unattractive, but mine is that this island has easy traveling. If the island is too private or has no telephone signal, I think that it will be inconvenient. However, if you like the island that has a lot of food, walking streets, facilities, and not far from the diving spot; the islands of Koh Phi Phi will be a place that I highly recommend. I was very happy from this trip. It made me change my point of view toward Koh Phi Phi from other word of mouth. If you come here, you will love Koh Phi Phi.
