Koh Phangan is an island in the Gulf of Thailand in southeast Thailand in SuratThani Province. Koh Phangan is best known for its Full Moon Party at Hat Rin Beach.

There are many ways to travel to Koh Phangan which is viewed from the map. If traveling from Surat Thani, it will be closer than Chumphon. However, for sea transportation is not much different.

Getting to Koh Phangan by plane. You can take an airplane to go to Suratthani airport. Then you can use the service of company car at the airport.

Airport pick up schedule and ferry to Koh Phangan.

For any person who is traveling by train to SuratThani station destination. You can also use the car to pick up at the train station as well. The car will go to pick up only one round at 8.00 am. But there are some trains coming to Surat train station at 08.05 am. This schedule can be booked. The car can wait not over 15 minutes.

For anyone  who has reserved a seat in advance, the car will pick up as the booking. For your own benefit, please make a reservation in advance before traveling. Because the car and ferryt have a limited of seats.

The number of tourists per day is 2,000-3,000 person/day.

Today we will review about the traveling from Bangkok, Khao San Road by the car of Lomprayah company from Bangkok to Koh Phangan.

We will start to travel by bus of Lomprayah company around 9:00 pm. This car will take us to the pier. Thung Makham Noi Beach, Chumphon for waiting to take the boat at 07.00 am of the next morning. That means that you have to go to the island for another day. You need to be carefully to check timetable for booking reservation.

We need to check-in before leaving 1 hour 30 minutes at the office of Lomprayah company. The landmark is the roundabout at Khao San Road . When you reach the roundabout at Khao San Road, walk into Soi Rambuttri, about 300 meters. The office of Lomprayah company will be on the left.

After check-in finished, we will get a sticker for stick them on a shirt. The staff will see for checking and sticker will indicate the island destination.

This is Lomprayah ferry ticket. The ticket will specify weight limitation of luggage not exceeding 20 kg.

After getting a ferry ticket and the sticker.We will walk to take the Lomprayah bus.The bus will be waiting at the Khao San road roundabout. There is a staff waiting for service the tourists to go on right destination for the bus.

The Lomprayah bus is a 44 seats air-conditioned bus. There is a left and right seat as a double seats. The bus provide blankets for passengers. But there are no food and drink services. Ready to start traveling ! We will take time about 7-8 hours.

After the bus runs for about 4 hours. The bus will stop at the rest area at Prachuap Khiri Khan province, at the Thap Sakae rest area for tourists to go to restroom.

You can take some food in the area. The rest area is quite new and clean. There is renovated this area to welcome the tourists.

There are a lot of foods in the area to service tourists.

After that, we continue traveling for about 3 hours. Then, we will arrive at Lom Praya Pier, Thung Makham Noi Beach, Chumphon Province at 4:30 am. but the ferry will be depart at 07.00 am.

It's probably not just sleepy, but also hungry. Some shop has opened since 5.00 am. Because  we have to continue travelling quite far, so we will take some food around here.

Then until 6.00 am., staff will announce to line up in the ferry. It is very long line. Looking on the left and right here, Is it Thailand ? There are only foreigners.

Our seats in VIP room, the seat is very comfortable. We pay more 100 baht, but get a seat that is more comfortable and wider. The ferry will run through Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and the final destination is Koh Samui. For our destination today, Koh Phangan takes time about 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The ferry will take us to Thong Sala Pier, Koh Phangan. From there, traveling to the resort accommodation is very comfortable. Some passenger can use the resort’s car to pick up at the pier or if you did not reserve the resort's car. You can take taxi about 150 baht / person / trip.

Koh Phangan has a tourist a lot and most of tourist is a foreigner. If there is a full moon party, not to mention how many people will be there. If you plan to travel during the full moon party. We recommended to book a ferry to Koh Phangan in advance.

If you do not reserve a car, you can walk to take the minibus at shuttle parking is available.

We use Lomprayah’s car. This is a minibus service to take passengers to the resort reservation. We stay at Koh Maa Beach Resort.

The concrete road on the island is quite good.

Take about 40 minutes by car to the resort. The resort is located at the end of island. We choose this resort because the opposite of the resort is a separated sea. You can walk across to travel.

After check-in, we went to the room, price 1,500 baht per day. We get a better room than we reserved and no need to pay extra as well. That’s great !

In the room is quite wide for two people are very comfortable.

Outside of the room, there is a balcony that we can go out and enjoy the view.

Koh Ma is a small island with a separate sea where connection with the land of Koh Phangan. During in the evening, the sea level will be decreased, we can walk across to enjoy at the island.

Bird’s eye view of Koh Ma is similarly heart shape with sand dunes connect to Koh Phangan area.

Dinner on Koh Phangan, this meal is very simple. Pork leg with rice and chicken with rice.

Price of two dishes is 120 baht. In the fact that, food on the island is both expensive and cheap price depend on we choose the restaurants.

Waking up the next morning and being hungry. We have breakfast at “The port” in the Thong Sala pier opposite Lomprayah’s office.

This is atmosphere inside the restaurant which is decorated in a loft style, quite new and very good services.

We order shrimp fried rice. That’s a delicious food with very fresh prawns. We have been travel many islands. Before coming to Koh Phangan, we think about the food on the island that flavor will be simple, not spicy for service to foreigners but this island the food very tasty, quite spicy as we ordered.

Pad Thai is one of my favorite foods. That’s really great.

Mocha iced coffee will make me really fresh for continue to travel.

The first beach, we drove motorcycle to Haad Rin beach, which is famous for organizing the Foon Moon party of of Phangan Island. The day that we went no Foon Moon party. The road on the island is quite dangerous, steep hill ascent, dangerous bend, but the road surface is quite good.

This is full moon party atmosphere. Thai tourists come to visit a lot.

Haad Rin is a white and quite clean sand beach.

After we returned from Haad Rin, we went to visit the Infinity Beach Club, Koh Phangan, this is a Japanese restaurant with the beach view. The staff is a foreigner and very good services. The restaurant is quite wide. Because I really like to eat salmon, this is the reason I wanna try it. The restaurant direction from the main road is quite far.

This is a Salmon Roll with rice, I feels that this menu will make me full.

Raw salmon is a very favorite menu for me.

The total for 3 menu including drinks is 900 baht.

We continue drove motorcycle to go to Thong Nai Pan Beach. Please be careful to drive, steep hill ascent. Even if the road surface is good. Thong Nai Pan is the last beach before we will return to the resort because the rain is coming. On the way to return to the resort, the rain is very strong. We have to stop at the gas station because the road is quite slippery.

Here is the resort we stayed. We have dinner with darkness due to heavy rain, the power was cut off.

We wake up in the morning and have breakfast before return to Bangkok. Today is Buddhist holy days. Every Buddhist holy days, I will take vegetarian food. The menu will be simple as the resort provide.

After have a breakfast, we prepared a luggage to return to Bangkok. Today we return by the ferry at 12.00 am. The company car will pick up at 10.45 am. at the resort. If we do not reserve a car in advance, we can inform the resort before 1 day we return. The resort can service to call minibus and the price is quite cheap.

The car runs about 40 minutes. We will arrive at the Lomprayah office for check in before take a ferry.

After check in finished, staff will print a ticket for take the ferry and bus for us. Please do not leave a tickets because staff will check again.

This is a stickers will indicate the destination. URA stands for Surat Thani Airport and the staff will write schedule and flight onto the sticker.

After staff check-in finished, we will take a minibus to go to Thong Sala pier, which is about 500 meters away from the Lomprayah office.

The amount of tourists waiting to take the ferry is quite a lot. There will be staff waiting to tell us where we have to take the ferry, timetable is 12.00 am, this time will be the time to turning point at Thong Sala Pier. This time will have a two ferry. Don’t be worry. If you are not make sure which one is the right ferry for your destination, you can ask staff. The staff will take Lomprayah shirts.

The ferry has already arrived. Look at the picture of the ferry is not big but inside is wide. The passengers are very crowed. The ferry is a catamaran ferry and speed is quite good.

People is very crowed even low season, most of tourists is foreigners. They always visited Thailand. Most of Thai people will travel in high season. For Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao the ferry always full every schedule. If you plan to travel, please check timetable of ferry for your convenience to travel.

The ferry runs from Koh Phangan to Tapee Pier about 2 hours 30 minutes. The ferry will take us to Tapee Pier.

Already arrived at Tapee Pier, Staff will announce the bus number that tourists traveling to Phuket, Hat Yai, Surat Airport. If you have any question, you can ask the staff.

There is clear information. Before we take the car, the staff will call to check the ticket again to arrange for the car to the airport. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the airport. Because of many travelers, the time will be delay. Passengers should manage time to book return flight around 2 hours from timetable on the web page.
