Check-in point for Samet Ferry tickets. We had already booked tickets online and checked in at the office. Park on the sidewalk. After that, unload your bags from the car. A motorbike taxi driver will let you store your car. The cost for storing a car is 100 baht per night.
The rooftop seats are reserved first because it takes only 10 minutes by boat. Most tourists want to sit and enjoy the breeze and the view while the boat travels from Phe Pier to Koh Samet.
The ferry is very cool and air-conditioned. It takes only 10 minutes to reach Koh Samet. It's fast and safe. Children can sit and adults can sit comfortably.
The check-in point at the pier in front of the border is a statue of a giantess standing out prominently. Take a photo of Grandma and Grandson checking in before continuing the journey.
Koh Samet is in a national park. There is an entrance fee for adults of 40 baht, children are free, and seniors aged 60 and over are free. Walk a little bit from the pier and you will see a queue for green songthaews. You can take the songthaew to the resort where you will be staying. On this trip, we stayed at Diamond Resort. The songthaew fare is 20 baht per person. It is not far from the pier.
The resort we stayed at on this trip was Diamond Resort on Koh Samet. It costs around 5,000 baht per night. They have a family room that can accommodate the whole family. We have children. It's a room with two beds. The view of the beach is right in front of the room.
My son changed his clothes and went to play in the sea before anyone else. For our summer trip, we chose Koh Samet because it's easy to get to, not far from Bangkok, and there's a ferry that takes you across to the island, which is relatively safe.
For the afternoon, we chose to eat at the resort. The menu is as shown in the picture. Two more cans of Coke cost 1,200 baht. It's a bit expensive. There are children, so we chose to eat at the resort. But if you want to eat at an outside restaurant, the price will be cheaper, starting at 60 baht. At 7-Eleven, the price is normal, not much higher.
Evening atmosphere, there is a small bar near the event. The day we visited was a weekday, but there were a lot of tourists.
Breakfast at Diamond Resort is a buffet. The menu is similar to other resorts: rice soup, bread, stir-fried glass noodles, sausage, fried rice.
On the way back, we hired a songthaew from the Diamond Hotel back to the pier for 100 baht, which is quite inexpensive. On Koh Samet, the price of a songthaew is quite reasonable.
A cafe near the pier, LAMOON CAFE has both an indoor and outdoor area. It serves coffee, drinks, and cakes. The taste is very good.
The journey from the cafe is not far, reaching Na Dan Pier, the main port for traveling to and from Koh Samet. We traveled back on the same Samet Ferry as we did on the way there. We have a small child, only 2 years old, so a speedboat would not be suitable. The ferry ride is comfortable and air-conditioned for 10 minutes to reach Phe Pier on the Rayong side.
