Took some Dramamine beforehand and felt perfectly fine. The 2-hour crossing felt quick, spent most of it on the upper outdoor deck enjoying the views and fresh air.
Transfer at Chumphon was seamless - staff were waiting, directed us to the bus, luggage was handled efficiently. About 45-minute wait but there were food stalls and clean toilets, so no issues.
The bus was comfortable enough - seats reclined, air-con was FREEZING (bring a jacket, seriously), and the driver was good. We stopped once at a service station around 2.5 hours in - clean facilities, food court, 7-Eleven. Journey took about 7.5 hours total to reach Khao San Road, arrived around 7:45 PM. Traffic was moderate coming into Bangkok.

"Took the afternoon ferry (3:00 PM departure) from Koh Tao. Ferry itself was brilliant - much faster and more comfortable than the boat we took from Koh Phangan to Koh Tao. Very impressed with the catamaran, stable and smooth.
The transfer at Chumphon was well-organized. We had about an hour to wait, which was fine - grabbed some food from the stalls (surprisingly decent pad thai for ฿60!).
The bus portion was long but manageable. Here's the important bit: THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ARCTIC. We'd been warned but didn't quite believe it. We're talking wear-your-jacket-and-still-be-cold level. I ended up using my beach towel as an extra layer. The bus reclines but not dramatically.
We arrived at Khao San at 2:15 AM (yes, past 2 in the morning). This was quite challenging as it was our first time in Bangkok and wandering around at that hour looking for our guesthouse was stressful. If taking the afternoon ferry, I'd strongly recommend booking accommodation very close to the drop-off point, or a place with 24-hour reception and clear directions.
Despite the late arrival hassle, the service itself was professional and reliable. Would recommend the morning ferry over the afternoon if possible, just for the arrival time.

"Traveled with our two kids from Koh Tao back to Bangkok after a week of diving (parents) and swimming (kids). Booked Lomprayah based on reviews and were not disappointed.
Morning ferry departure worked perfectly with our schedule. Kids enjoyed the ferry ride - we sat in the air-conditioned cabin but they kept wanting to go outside to the upper deck. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Journey was smooth (end of January, so good weather). Kids had zero seasickness issues.
The Chumphon transfer was actually great for kids - gave them a chance to run around after the ferry, use proper toilets, get snacks. The waiting area had benches and wasn't too crowded.
Bus journey: Kids watched downloaded Netflix shows on tablets with headphones (essential!). Brought extra jacket for each of them - necessary as air-con was very cold. Rest stop was welcome - kids needed to stretch legs. Driver was excellent, smooth driving, felt very safe.
Arrived Khao San Road around 7:30 PM, perfect timing - not too late for kids, easy to get to our hotel. Staff helped with our luggage.

"After researching all options to get from Koh Tao to Bangkok (flying via Koh Samui, other ferry companies, etc.), we chose Lomprayah and it was absolutely the right decision.
Booking through Klook was easy and slightly cheaper than direct booking. Got confirmation within minutes.
Ferry experience exceeded expectations. The catamaran is genuinely impressive - fast, stable, modern. We've taken ferries all over Southeast Asia and this was one of the best. Sat outside on the upper deck for the first hour (beautiful views, saw flying fish!), then moved inside to air-con for final hour as it got hot.
Chumphon transfer was straightforward. Used the time to buy lunch from the stalls - fresh fruit, fried rice, very cheap and decent quality. Transfer staff were helpful and made sure everyone got on correct bus.
Bus was actually nicer than expected for the price point. Yes, air-con is aggressive (we were prepared with jackets), but seats were clean, comfortable, and decent legroom (I'm 5'10"). Rest stop had good facilities. Driver drove safely and professionally.
Arrived Suvarnabhumi area around 8:15 PM (we chose airport drop-off as flying out next day). Quick Grab to our airport hotel, perfect.

Ferry: This is where things got challenging. Sea conditions were quite rough (monsoon season). Ferry was bouncing a lot, many passengers including myself felt seasick despite taking medication. Journey took closer to 2.5 hours as captain slowed down in rough patches. This isn't Lomprayah's fault - just reality of monsoon season travel.
